Championships
Capitol Hill Little League is first and foremost a community, focused on ensuring a fun and safe space for the youth of our neighborhood to have the opportunity to play ball. But we also pride ourselves on developing athletes who are dedicated to the game and work hard on the field. Here we honor our championship teams.
Summer Tournaments
CHLL’s Summer tournament teams require significant time and travel commitments within the DMV and along the East Coast. CHLL expects to support multiple official Summer 2026 baseball and softball tournament teams and also to participate in selected unofficial series.

CHLL’s informational town hall meeting for all interested families is on Dec. 17. If you are interested in serving as tournament team manager please attend this virtual town hall and fill out this interest form.
Younger squads are usually formed during the Spring playing season. For the older age brackets the coaching and player selection efforts begin before the Spring season — manager and preliminary player interest surveys are sent out after the town hall, coaches are selected before the Spring season and player workouts are held in early May. CHLL aims to announce selections by mid-May and practices begin immediately. Families can expect games in June and July. The older teams can continue to play into late August should they reach the Little League World Series.
Player Selection Criteria
Each local league determines how it will select its tournament teams and CHLL strives to build the best team it can each year for each age bracket. Player selection and timing can slightly vary by age level, but all teams are assembled through open tryout(s) with input from both tournament and regular season coaches. Placement on a prior year’s tournament team does not guarantee a future selection.
Any tryouts for a tournament team can’t occur before May 15. Also, no selection announcements can occur before May 15 and the availability and eligibility of all prospective team members is established.
Selection criteria must be limited to the following:
Eligibility: Participation in eight regular Spring season games in an age-appropriate division is required. (This doesn’t apply to senior tournament team players.) See the current year’s Little League Official Regulations, Playing Rules and Operating Policies for tournament rules, guidelines and explanations about the specific minimum number of games that a player must participate in to establish tournament eligibility and the division(s) in which a player is age-eligible for selection.
A player’s regular Spring season team must have scheduled and played 12 regular season games prior to the start of tournament play. (This doesn’t apply to senior tournament team players.)
A player’s residence, as defined in the Little League Official Regulations, Playing Rules and Policies, is a place of bona fide continuous habitation by one or both player parents, or legal guardian(s), within a league’s physical boundaries. School enrollment, as defined in the Little League Official Regulations, Playing Rules and Operating Policies, outlines a player’s eligibility to participate given his/her confirmed attendance at a school within a given league’s physical boundaries during the traditional academic school year. School attendance is established by a player’s enrollment as of Oct. 1 of the previous year. Players who don’t meet residency or school eligibility requirements must have approval from the Little League International Charter Committee specifically identifying the player’s eligibility for that league for that specific tournament year.
Availability: CHLL’s tournament teams require a sizeable time commitment from a player and their families. CHLL takes into consideration a player’s availability to attend tournament practices and games with the team.
Ability: CHLL tournament selections are not determined by statistical analysis. A player’s CHLL statistics — if available — are reviewed as part of the overall process. It’s one of many data points managers consider to make their decisions for the team. A player’s ability also is assessed by, but not limited to, sportsmanship, defensive position needs and availability, coachability, preseason evaluations, advanced clinic evaluations, regular season performance, tournament workout(s) performance, and non-tournament coaches input.
CHLL is excited for another great tournament season. We encourage interested families to attend the virtual town hall for more complete details or reach out to any CHLL board member or coach for additional information.
