Dear CHLL Families –

The CHLL Board of Directors recently met and has made the painful decision to cancel the entire spring season. While we remain hopeful that we’ll get to play some baseball and softball soon, it’s clear that we will be unable to have any type of traditional season. The board and division commissioners are exploring options for informal activities once fields open up, including opportunities to play over the summer. At this time we don’t yet know when and what that will look like, and it is possible we will be unable to play at all before our fall season. When we are able to play, we’ll be following the guideline set by Mayor Bowser and Little League to ensure the health and safety of our players, coaches, umpires and families. We’re disappointed there won’t be a season, but we know baseball and softball will be back.

CHLL Spring 2020 Refund Plan
We want to thank you for your patience as we took the time to decide what to do with this season. The unfortunate timing occurred right before the season began, after which we incurred costs related to field permits, uniforms and equipment. These are unprecedented times, and we want to be fair to our families while at the same time being sound fiscal stewards of the league as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entity. After careful and extended discussion among the CHLL Board of Directors, we would like to offer you three options for how to handle your spring registration fees:

  1. Convert your registration fees to a tax deductible donation to the league, which will help to fund additional player scholarships and league expenses (e.g., field permits, equipment, uniforms and player insurance) during future seasons.

  2. A deferral of your registration to the fall 2020 season (we will send you a single-use code that can be used during the fall 2020 registration period)

  3. A refund (less credit card fees that were already charged and paid to a third party, and late fees)

Please CLICK HERE to submit a form with your preferred option. We will begin processing refunds on Monday, June 1, so please provide your response by that date. If we do not receive a response by June 1, we will assume a donation to the league is the selected option. We appreciate your continued patience as it will take us time to complete the process.

If you have any questions, please email president@chlldc.org. We hope all of you remain safe.

Best,
The CHLL Board
